Learn the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance
Most of what you should know as an American citizen you learned while preparing for your naturalization interview. You learned about our great Constitution, the supreme law of the land. You know how our government is structured, how laws are passed, and how politicians are elected. You also know about the history of our nation including our struggle for independence, our abolition of slavery, the wars we fought for democracy and freedom, and our quest for equal rights for all people regardless race, gender and national origin.
You probably know more about being an American than the average American. So don’t stop now! To put the finishing touches on your US citizenship, we invite you to learn the Star Spangled Banner and the Pledge of Allegiance. If you can recite these from memory, we guarantee you will make a lasting impression with any other American—especially the native-born.
